Abdominoplasty in Berlin
The abdomen is the central area that is the first thing that catches the eye in half-dressed people. Psychological studies on test persons have shown that for both men and women, in the swimming pool the abdominal region is noticed first. More and more patients are introducing themselves at our private clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Berlin Dahlem with the desire to have an abdominoplasty performed on themselves. This is not only due to the reasons mentioned above, but primarily for the patient’s own well-being. There are many reasons for a slackening of the abdominal wall. These include pregnancies, cesarean section deliveries, weight fluctuations and also genetic predisposition.

Experiences of patients at the Sinis Klinik Berlin
Testimonials from our patients who have had their abdominal wall tightened are valuable and important. There they describe their personal experiences with Sinis Klinik, sometimes adding their before and after photos and sometimes mentioning the prices of a tummy tuck. If you have already undergone such an operation, please help others with their decision by sharing your experience here as well.
Before and after pictures are ideal for viewing and evaluating the results of a tummy tuck. However, according to Section 11 Paragraph 1 Clause 3 of the German Medicines Advertising Act (HWG) we have not been allowed to publish any such photos of patients in the publicly accessible media since April 1, 2006. However, we can show you such illustrations as part of an individual consultation so that you have the opportunity to compare your personal expectations with the results you have already achieved. With the help of such recordings, you can be sure that a professionally performed tummy tuck can naturally produce beautiful results. However, if you are still undecided, the before and after photos can help you make a final decision about the tummy tuck.
After the tummy tuck operation, you will first be closely observed in the recovery room until you wake up completely. The total duration of an inpatient stay depends to a large extent on the scope of the procedure and your condition afterwards. If the operation is not very extensive, you must reckon with at least one night in hospital. If the operation becomes more extensive, you will have to spend two to three nights in the clinic for your own safety. If your condition is assessed positively by the doctor, you would be able to leave the clinic on the second day, but only if accompanied by a person close to you.
Before and after the intervention in Berlin
At the beginning of each surgical procedure, there is a detailed consultation, during which we explain the opportunities and risks of the upcoming operation to you in detail. If you decide to have a tummy tuck, you should prepare as follows:
Before the operation:
Your own behavior both before and after the operation can make a significant contribution to minimizing risks and promoting wound healing. About two weeks beforehand, it is advisable to avoid smoking and alcoholic beverages as much as possible. The same applies to blood-thinning medication, painkillers, vaccinations, sleeping pills or dietary supplements such as grape seed flour. It would also make sense to start with contrast showers and continue after the procedure as soon as you are allowed to shower again. This speeds up wound healing because it improves blood flow to your body. On the day of the tummy tuck, wash yourself thoroughly and do not use body lotions afterwards. You must also come to the clinic sober. The anesthetist and the operating surgeon will answer your final questions before the procedure.
After the operation:
After the procedure, you must be prepared to wear a compression garment for four to six weeks. This is extremely important because it promotes wound healing on the one hand and ensures that the scar heals unobtrusively on the other. Sporting activities should also be avoided during this period in order to achieve an optimal result. However, that doesn't mean you have to stay in bed — you can go for a walk, for example, but without stressing the wound area. After about two weeks, the wound has healed to the point where the stitches can be removed if necessary. During the entire healing process, we will closely monitor you until the end result, by ordering several check-ups. It is advisable to keep these appointments, as they are important both for your safety and for a good aesthetic result. If you are unsure or have any questions, please contact us immediately.
A tummy tuck is a more or less extensive operation that always requires general anesthesia due to the large wound area. This is painlessly initiated by an experienced anesthetist. The respective anesthesia team will keep you under constant observation during the operation and afterwards until you wake up completely. In the rarest of cases, however, side effects of anesthesia can occur. Usually it is a matter of dizziness, nausea, vomiting or short-term sensory disturbances.
The advantages of a surgical tummy tuck are obvious: In addition to the excellent aesthetic effect, you will also have a more positive self-esteem and a completely new attitude towards life. This often leads to sporting activities and a more open approach to one's own body. In addition, handling the right clothing sizes is a lot easier. The disadvantages of a surgical tummy tuck are largely related to the risks and possible complications of such an operation, which, however, can be almost completely ruled out by choosing an experienced, competent surgeon.
Risks and complications of tummy tuck by Prof. Dr. Sinis
In general, the tummy tuck surgery itself is an unproblematic procedure, which for the most part does not entail any complications. However, risks cannot be completely ruled out with such an operation - as with any other surgical procedure. Occasionally, primary complications such as infections or postoperative bleeding can occur. However, by taking antibiotics and strictly following the rules of hygiene, you can largely avoid these types of complications. The most common complications of a tummy tuck include pain during movement, feelings of tension, bruising and swelling, which will subside after a while by resting and cooling the affected area. However, you can reduce overall complications to a minimum by allowing yourself to be operated on by our experienced and highly qualified team. In addition, the Sinis Clinic has state-of-the-art equipment and thus offers the ideal conditions for carrying out such operations with little risk. In general, the right choice of an experienced surgeon can save many risks as much as possible.
A major tummy tuck often involves repositioning the navel, effectively transplanting the navel higher. Although the operation is planned and performed with great care, asymmetries can occur. In addition, circulatory disorders can occur, which in the worst case can cause necrosis (the death of the tissue). In this case, the displaced navel can be shed, which threatens the loss of the navel. All of these complications can be minimized by choosing a knowledgeable and experienced surgeon.
The prices for a tummy tuck vary widely depending on the extent of the procedure. However, the exact costs are based on the individual characteristics of the abdominal wall and consequently the scope of the operation, since the general conditions for each individual operation vary greatly. Each operation is individual and accordingly requires an individual cost calculation. The type of tummy tuck and the scope of the operation are the key factors in determining the cost composition. The length of hospital stay and the anesthetic procedure are also cost-relevant aspects. In addition, qualified, specialist medical advice, treatment and check-up appointments as well as compression underwear are included in the total price. Several non-binding consultations are required in the course of which the cost of the tummy tuck and personal expectations are clarified and the costs of the procedure are determined. The price range usually starts, especially in Berlin, at at least 4000 euros, although it can vary greatly upwards.
What is a mini abdominoplasty?
The tummy tuck is also called an abdominoplasty. In cases where the main excess of soft tissue or skin is located exclusively over the pubic area and does not extend over the region of the navel, a mini-abdominoplasty can be useful. In the case of a ‘small abdominoplasty’, only the lower part of the abdominal wall is tightened without moving the navel and without taking the soft tissues above it into account.
Cost of abdominoplasty in Berlin
The costs of the initial consultation always depend on the type and extent of the treatment. In principle, the scale of fees for doctors applies to the consultation hours. Thereafter, patients pay 90 € for the initial consultation with anamnesis, collection of previous findings, physical examination and preparation of a therapy and cost plan. This fee is payable once and will not be credited towards further treatment. Additional appointments and post-operative care are included in the total price of the operation and do not have to be paid separately. This is the only way to ensure a high-quality treatment with sufficient treatment time, during which we can respond to you and your specific needs. In order to ensure the success of the treatment, we have to carry out the consultation with sufficient time and care.

FAQ about tummy tuck:

We speak of an inner corset when the muscle bellies of the straight abdominal muscles are sewn together during abdominoplasty to strengthen them in the midline. This can be particularly useful if we find a weakness in the abdominal muscles or even a divergence of these two muscle groups in the middle. However, this technique, in which the two muscle groups of the straight abdominal muscles are grasped with strong threads, can also be useful without diverging (so-called rectus diastasis). This is particularly true in cases where the abdominoplasty is also intended to reduce the waist. The abdominoplasty alone only tightens the tissue in a two-dimensional way from top to bottom. By powerfully bringing the straight abdominal muscles together from the costal arches down to the pubic area, the third level of the trunk can also be taken into consideration. This means that abdominoplasty can also be used to tighten and accentuate the waist.

In an abdominoplasty, the incision is just above the pubic area. Depending on the size, the cut is then made between the two edges of the pelvis so that it is completely covered by the underwear. The abdominal wall is then detached from the abdominal muscles together with the fatty tissue it contains. This is done over a large area, so that the excess skin and fat can then be removed and cut away by pulling downwards. However, in such an abdominoplasty it must be taken into account that the navel is moved and newly sewn into the skin. Otherwise the tissue above the navel could not be reached and tightened by the abdominoplasty. If the abdominal wall is tightened by removing excess skin, the wound closure over the pubic area can be achieved easily and without much tension.

In exceptional cases, it may be useful to plan the incision for the abdominoplasty in the shape of an inverted T. The exception to this rule is that, in addition to the incision in the pubic area, a vertical incision is made in the midline of the abdominal wall to the navel, or even above it. This is necessary for an abdominoplasty when the soft tissue and skin masses are so excessive, even in the horizontal plane, that a reduction must take place here. On the other hand, for patients with an excess of soft tissue and skin on the upper abdomen, it may be advisable to make an incision in the upper abdomen in order to achieve an optimal abdominoplasty. However, these are absolute exceptions, as most abdominoplasties can be performed via a conventional incision in the pubic area.

If mainly an accumulation of fat on the abdomen causes the insufficient definition of the abdominal muscles, it is not necessary to perform a grueling surgery to tighten the abdominal area. Liposuction may be sufficient for this purpose, especially if you have good skin quality. We can only determine whether this is the case in a personal consultation once we have gotten to know you. Only then can we determine the most suitable method of liposuction for you, as well as calculate the exact cost.

The severity of the pain is related to the extent of the procedure and is surprisingly minor considering the area of the wound. This is usually a feeling of pressure, pulling or burning in combination with a feeling of tension in the abdominal skin, which is similar to a strong muscle ache and can usually be treated well with light painkillers. Under normal circumstances, the pain subsides significantly after about a week.

In the course of an abdominoplasty, both the hanging fat apron (abdominal soft tissue) and the underlying abdominal muscles are tightened, if necessary. A distinction is made between two different tightening procedures – the large abdominoplasty and the mini abdominoplasty. In the case of the large abdominoplasty, the skin between the abdominal fold and the belly button is completely removed. In the case of the mini tummy tuck (mini-abdominoplasty), the belly button is merely positioned a little lower.
