Facial Fat Removal (Facial Liposuction)
Fat deposits can be permanently reduced through facial fat removal, also known as facial liposuction in technical jargon. Full, round cheeks, so-called hamster cheeks, double chin and turkey neck can make affected patients feel partially disfigured. The facial expression, which is conveyed by the unevenly distributed fat deposits on the face, often does not reflect the emotional life of the patient. Those affected suffer from this false perception and the disproportion between body and face. By the teenage years at the latest, the childlike curves in the face have disappeared. However, if this is not the case for hereditry reasons, liposuction on the affected areas of the face is the only solution.

In addition, the connective tissue in the face loses strength with increasing age. This causes fat to accumulate in the lower part of the face, along the chin and cheeks, which can only be removed by liposuction. Liposuction of the face is a very demanding procedure, as the layer of fat on the face is often very thin compared to the body. The microcannula is guided through the smallest incisions under the facial skin to the affected areas, where it sucks out the fat pockets. Often a local anaesthetic is sufficient for the two to four hour procedure. If desired, the patient can also be put into a twilight sleep so that he or she is hardly aware of the liposuction and the necessary movements in the face.
Facial liposuction is a shaping procedure that respects and maintains the natural facial anatomy of the patient. A swollen face is to be expected after liposuction and is completely normal. The use of painkillers and ointments, as well as wearing a compression bandage, support the healing process. It is also important that the patient uses his facial expressions as little as possible after the liposuction. This also includes that the chewing muscles are not stressed by soft food, such as porridge and soups. If the punctures for the suction cannula were sutured, the stitches can be removed after about a week.
After about seven days, the patient is fit again and no longer strongly affected by the liposuction. Sun exposure and make-up should definitely be avoided for a while after liposuction of the face.
Testimonials
After a long search I finally found the surgeon I trust! I have a complicated story about Prof. Dr. medical Sinis come. He encouraged me, but was honest with me at the same time.
Types of Facial Liposuction
The infamous ‘double chin’ is not only a problem for people with a somewhat fuller figure, many slim patients also suffer from the fat deposits on the chin. Reasons for this are not only a hereditary predisposition but also weak connective tissue, which loses elasticity due to the natural aging process. Fatty tissue accumulates in the sagging area of the chin, which can only be permanently removed by liposuction. During liposuction on the chin, the fat is sucked out along the chin-jaw line, in just a few hours. The patient can already notice the next day that the fat and thus the double chin has disappeared.
Fat deposits on the cheeks are caused by excess weight or by a hereditary predisposition. Chubby, apple or hamster cheeks are the partly very cute descriptions for the unloved fat pads in the cheek area. However, the natural aging process is also a cause for too much fatty tissue in the cheeks. With age, the connective tissue loses its firmness, causing fat to accumulate at the bottom of the cheeks. Unsightly drooping cheeks are the result. In both cases, liposuction on the cheeks is the only way to really get rid of this fatty tissue. During liposuction, the fat deposits are reduced in the cheeks with the help of a suction cannula. At the same time, the area of the cheek is remodeled, which brings out the cheekbones more and makes the face look narrower.
Liposuction of the neck is usually performed in combination with the chin and cheeks, as the treatment of these three areas brings the greatest possible visible success. As a result of the aging process, sagging cheeks, double chin and a so-called turkey neck can form, which are caused by fat deposits in the sagging facial skin. Usually, additional wrinkles on the neck appear, which make the face look even older. This is where liposuction can work wonders, because by sucking out the fat tissue in the right places, the contours in the lower face and neck area are brought out again. Another advantage of liposuction is that it stimulates the production of colleagues in the connective tissue in the neck, which also leads to a slimmer neck.
Experience and Results
Our patients’ reports show consistently positive experiences with facial liposuction here at Sinis Clinic Berlin. This process is a very personal matter, which requires a lot of trust. Before liposuction it is important for many patients to know how their face will look after the procedure. We can fulfil this wish with the help of Crisalix 3D simulation. This produces a very realistic image of the face, especially of the regions to be treated. Patients find this before-and-after comparison very impressive, especially since the past has shown how much the simulation corresponds to the actual final result after liposuction.
