Total Body Lift in Berlin

The Total Body Lift is also called Bodylift or a Whole Body Lift. It combines a series of individual partial operations into one complete operation, which serves to reduce skin, fat and soft tissue. The total body lift is often performed after massive weight loss. It combines a series of individual partial operations into one complete operation, which serves to reduce skin, fat and soft tissue. The total body lift is often performed after massive weight loss. It is not uncommon for excess skin to develop after loss of subcutaneous fatty tissue as a result of a change in diet and/or sport, and this excess skin no longer recedes. Only the plastic and aesthetic surgeon can remedy this situation by surgically removing this excess.

When does a Total body lift make sense?

  • For patients suffering from excess tissue in the abdomen, buttocks, hips and thighs after significant weight loss
  • For patients who suffer from sagging tissue after a surgical procedure such as XXL liposuction
  • For patients who, despite exercising and a balanced diet, cannot achieve a firm, well-formed body

Components of the Total Body Lift

First, the excess is addressed to the abdominal wall. Then the removal of fatty tissue and skin (dermolipectomy) is carried out normally, as in a normal abdominoplasty. For this purpose, the navel is cut out separately and, after removing the excess fat and skin tissue, is sewn into the skin that has been pulled over it. This abdominoplasty as a partial aspect of the body lift can be combined with a tightening of the abdominal muscles in the midline. This inner corset gives the abdominal wall support and a new shape, after the abdominal wall muscles have often been ‘worn out’ due to the high pressure in the abdomen caused by overweight.

During the planning and execution of the abdominoplasty for a body lift, various steps are taken that are not included in a ‘simple’ abdominoplasty. We are talking about the cuts running out into the flanks and sides of the torso in order to find the way to the back and thus to the buttocks during the complete body lift (total body lift). Moving flanks during a body lift is mainly carried out by undermining the skin on the trunk.

The skin on the thighs and directly on the pelvic bones is so hard to move that a tightening here mainly takes place on the excess soft tissue of the flanks on the trunk and back. For the reasons mentioned above, the tightening of the flanks via a curved cut to the back is an important aspect of the body lift. Once on the back, the body lift on the buttocks can then take place using a buttock lift.

The total body lift ends with the buttocks. Therefore, the incision is made once around the whole lower abdomen, flanks and on the upper edge of the buttocks. The buttocks can then be lifted in addition to the body lift on the abdominal wall and flanks. This part of a body lift represents an important step towards shaping and rounding off the overall picture.

The procedure known as body contouring leads to a tightened tissue and an aesthetically pleasing shape of the abdominal wall, flanks and buttocks. To prevent the buttocks from sagging again prematurely following signs of aging, they are fixed with strong sutures on the muscle skin (fascia) of the back and on the upper edge of the pelvis. During buttock lifting, the shape of the buttocks can be influenced during the body lift by adjusting the vector. Depending on the width of the pelvis, height, stature and gender, body contouring can be carried out in this way during a body lift.

The thigh lift can be performed in the same session as part of the body lift to improve the overall body shape. The thighs are tightened in a spindle or T-shaped manner (see thigh lift). The thigh lift is an important instrument for body contouring during a body lift, as it provides the ‘final touch’ to the overall appearance. Planning individual elements around each other is important during a body lift (buttocks, abdomen, flanks and thighs) as well as operating gently. This is the only way to offer a procedure which takes into account all the different aspects in an operation lasting several hours and has few complications.

Most lifting operations are performed with the additional application of liposuction. This is also the case during a body lift. Liposuction can loosen and thin out the tissue so that the individual skin borders can be continuously connected with each other. In addition, liposuction during a body lift can also be used to modulate the tissue in such a way that body contouring and body shaping can be performed according to the surgeon’s and patient’s wishes.

Costs

The costs of the initial consultation always depend on the type and extent of the treatment. In principle, the scale of fees for doctors applies to the consultation hours. Thereafter, patients pay 90 € for the initial consultation with anamnesis, collection of previous findings, physical examination and preparation of a therapy and cost plan. This fee is payable once and will not be credited towards further treatment.

Additional appointments and post-operative care are included in the total price of the operation and do not have to be paid separately. This is the only way to ensure a high-quality treatment with sufficient treatment time, during which we can respond to you and your specific needs. In order to ensure the success of the treatment, we have to carry out the consultation with sufficient time and care.

It is not uncommon for health insurance companies to be able to provide a cost commitment for the body lift to cover the costs of treatment. This requires the prerequisite of a medical justification for the service. The assessment for medical necessity given is first made by the attending specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery. Patients can then present their health insurance company with a medical certificate documenting the necessity for a body lift.

If you have any problems or questions on the way to obtaining Treatment Guarantee from the health insurance companies, we will be happy to assist you. Likewise, an financing plan can also be drawn up.
